Alpha Ifrit Head-On Event

What is it?

- A guild event where we form a party to attempt to take down the boss Ifrit without the current popular ankle snare trick.

- This is a test run, a first test for scheduled MVP events. If this goes smoothly and enjoyably, then there may be more runs in the future.

When is it

- Planned time is to leave Aldebaran at 6pm PST on Friday, May 9th. Ifrit will be killed earlier in the day to rule out competition, either by alpha or by arrangement with insur.

- The following are the required roles. We are planning on bringing a full 12 man party. Contact Lupus or Doddler to get added to the list.

Required Items

- Players will need to bring basic reduction gears. We expect that players can atleast muster a horn carded shield, immune garment, and basic HP increasing gears. If you can get them, further ranged reduction such as alligator accessories, and long mace for aco type classes will be very beneficial. Obviously fire armor will be required.

- In order to counter earthquake, each player will need to bring mercenary scrolls. The level is not important, though level one is probably best. Each player should have these scrolls hotkeyed, and likely should bring 5-8 of them with them to the MVP run (they're only 7k from the NPC for a level 1). You should probably chose a mercenary type that you do not intend to gain reputation for. If you are unable to properly configure a mercenary from attempting to run up and melee ifrit, you should chose the bowman mercenary.

What is it worth?

- While direct reward would be unlikely (unless a very valuable item drops), players participating will be rewarded an additional 10 DKP.

Strategy

- Ifrit will be tanked directly by a main tank, sacrificed by a crusader. The salamanders in ifrits mob will be removed, leaving only kasa's left. Ifrit will be tanked aimed towards a wall so that direct fire attacks will miss the party, and in such a way that he will be unable to use sonic blow of full divest. The party members will stand outside of pulse strike range and focus damage on Ifrit. The wizard will need to keep keep quagmire up on Ifrit, and if needed use ganbantein to remove his magnetic earth under the tank and himself. One priest will focus on supporting the tank with safety wall and heal, while one will focus on supporting party members (removing status effects from dragon fear) and lexing. Because of the requirement to use blinding mist to counter earthquake, the party will not have a magnetic earth to defend them from meteor storm. You should expect to be hit by the odd meteor, and plan accordingly. The scholar will need to dispell his two hand quicken skill when he uses it.

- When Ifrit uses earthquake, we will counter the skill through the use of blinding mist and by summoning mercenaries. A warning for earthquake will be given on vent so that you can have time to summon a mercenary, as having them out too early will likely get them killed by stray meteors. The crusader will use sacrifice on important party members, and the soul linker duo will attempt to have Kaupe up on every member of the team before earthquake casts. When given the warning, dual wielding characters should switch to a shield before being struck. With these measures in place, the majority of the party should be able to survive earthquake.
